The FIRAT-SRG best research project award is to promote recognition of research students who are contributing to the development and solving problems that are slowing down the economic growth of the nation.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
The Selection procedure shall be in two stages. The public will participate in democratically evaluating and selecting projects most relevant as adjudged from their needs and the development needs of citizens in the country. An executive summary and a 3minutes visual presentation of the project will be allowed. The materials will be available online to a wide range of people. This level of selection reinforces the essence of making projects relevant to development needs.
A voting system shall be put in place and Nigerians from all walks of life will be eligible to vote projects for relevance. The first 50 most relevant project entries will be selected into stage 2.
The second stage shall consider the technical, economic relevance, and development productivity potential of the projects to rank them. A technical committee comprising of academic and research leaders, business experts, economists, and experts from industries will be put together for the purpose.
The best 3 students in the POSTGRADUATE students’ category win cash prizes of N250,000 (1st prize), N200,000 (2nd prize), and N150,000 (3rd prize).
